Rich Content Section
Travelling by Postbus to the Türlersee feels like a short holiday. This small lake, 1.5 kilometres long and 500 metres wide, is located in the middle of a nature reserve, surrounded by reeds and moors, natural banks and dry meadows. It is even listed in the federal inventory of landscapes and natural monuments of natural importance.
As it is an important spawning ground for grass frogs and common toads, access to the water is limited to the lido (entrance fee applies). The associated restaurant, children’s playground and play area offer a pleasant way to spend a few hours. There are around a dozen barbecue spots scattered around the lake.
At the Erpel restaurant, they serve traditional fried delicacies on the plate rather than Swiss sausage on a skewer.
If you feel like some exercise, you can rent an SUP or rowing boat, take a good one-hour walk around the lake or combine your excursion with a hike, for example to Hausen am AlbisTarget not accessible.
Walk around Türlersee
Türlersee is a small lake just 1.5 kilometres long and 500 metres wide. It takes just under an hour to walk around it, with most of the path lying right by the water.
If you take a picnic with you, you can fire up the grill and enjoy a meal at one of the dozen or so barbecue spots along the way. The important nature reserve around Türlersee is also an ideal place to rest for well-signposted hikes of varying lengths.
One for example is the hike to Hausen am Albis, which takes around two hours. The views of Lake Zug and the Alps are particularly impressive. From the Glärnisch to the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, there’s a whole panorama to be admired on a fine day.
It’s also easy to integrate the Ämtlerweg trail, which from Hausen am Albis takes you via Türlersee to Mettmenstetten and back to the starting point. This hike takes around 3.5 hours.
