Arriving by BLS and PostBus, you will pass through the beautiful Entlebuch area on your way to Sörenberg, which is at the heart of the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere Reserve. The cable car takes you to Rossweid.

You will then hike through the magnificent winter landscape around the impressive Schrattenfluh mountain towards the Kemmeriboden-Bad Hotel.

Availability

The Sörenberg−Kemmeriboden special ticket

The “Sörenberg–Kemmeriboden” special ticket is available daily from 14 December 2024 to 30 March 2025; exceptionally, the special ticket will not be available on 23 to 26 December 2024, as the Kemmeriboden-Bad Hotel is closed.

Kemmeriboden-Bad Hotel opening hours

On quieter days, you can obtain a packet of meringues from the hotel shop or from the hotel reception. When the food truck is open, you can also order a portion of meringue right there.

  • A portion of meringue at the Kemmeriboden-Bad Hotel or a meringue gift package from the local shop to take with you.

The journey to/from Schüpfheim is not included in the price. We recommend checking whether supersaver tickets are available in advance.

No additional discounts will be given to groups.

The hike

Before starting your hike, why not relax at the Rossweid restaurant, which is ideal for young and old alike. The hike then starts at the Rossweid cable car mountain station.

The trail is well signposted and leads through a beautiful, largely unspoiled mountain landscape.

The route to Salwideli is largely flat without any major differences in altitude. From Salwideli, the trail leads through the idyllic landscape, flanked by the Brienzergrat ridge and the Schrattenfluh, and takes you moderately downhill to the Kemmeriboden-Bad hotel.

Outward journey

To get there, take the train from Lucerne or Bern to Schüpfheim. Change to PostBus route 241 and travel as far as Sörenberg, Post. After a short walk, you will reach the valley station of the cable car to Rossweid, the starting point of your hike.

Return journey

To return, take PostBus route 251 from Kemmeriboden to Escholzmatt, Bahnhof. From here, BLS heads back to Schüpfheim, then onwards in the desired direction.
