The Einsiedeln-Ybrig region, nestled in a beautiful landscape, also offers a wide range of sports in winter. Enjoy perfectly maintained cross-country ski trails, winter hiking trails, snowshoe routes, toboggan runs and ski lifts. A truly varied range of opportunities for young and old alike!
The region also has much to offer from a cultural perspective. The abbey complex houses the “Black Madonna” and attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. Besides the abbey, you can also visit museums and the redoubt.
Attractions
- Einsiedeln Abbey church: open daily from 6 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. (from All Saints’ Day to Easter) / from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (from Easter to All Saints’ Day). Open from 7 a.m. on Sundays and public holidays
- Guided tours of the abbey take place every Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays) at 2 p.m.; these finish at around 3.45 p.m.
- Einsiedeln Christmas market in the first days of Advent, with 130 decorated Christmas huts and a unique atmosphere
- Cross-country skiing, with several trails and rental service in Studen (Studen, Dörfli), Schwedentritt (Einsiedeln, Brüel) and Bolzberg (Einsiedeln, Allmeindstrasse)
- Natural ice rinks in Euthal on the Sihlsee (Euthal, Post) and at the Brüel Ice Park (Einsiedeln, Brühl)
