Enjoy a wonderful day in nature in Crans-Montana and recharge your batteries. The Grand Bisse de Lens trail links the villages of Icogne and Lens, and offers breathtaking views over the Rhône valley.
Once you have arrived at the “Icogne-Village” stop, take the Chemin du Moulin path and then the Route du Grand Bisse de Lens, which takes you straight to the irrigation channel. Continue along the waterway to reach the footbridges that lead around Châtelard hill, where the statue of Christ-Roi stands. Take the opportunity to stop and admire one of the most beautiful views in Valais, which overlooks the Rhône plain.
Like many of the Valais irrigation channels, it is renowned for traversing dizzying rock faces. If you have any doubts, don’t hesitate to retrace your steps rather than being unsure of the way. If you are brave enough to continue, you will come face to face with the giant letter “N” and a bench offering another magnificent panoramic view.
After a short break, you'll have just under half of the route left to hike. The trail continues past the village of Flanthey and then climbs back up towards Lens. Cross the village to reach Lac du Louché, the last stop of your trip.
Our tip
To round off your visit, discover the new exhibition at the Opale Foundation (by the lake) and, for those with an appetite, treat yourself to a meal at the Restaurant l’Opale, part of the art center, before returning to the “Lens, Centre d’art” stop.
Important information
The villages of Icogne and Lens are accessible from the “Crans-Montana, Le Mérignou” stop in Crans-Montana, or from Sion railway station on route 353.
