Thusis-Mutten route

The Thusis–Mutten route takes you from Thusis along the Viamala Gorge to the unique Walser village of Mutten. If you wish to go further, the path will take you to Obermutten where you can visit Europe’s highest situated wooden church.

Walserweg to Obermutten

From Thusis, the trail continues on good footpaths up to Hohenrätien Castle and on to the rock drawings of Crap Carschenna. The mountain trail then climbs steeply up to Crocs and on through the dry meadows of the Muttner Mt. into the beautifully located Walser village of Obermutten. The Postbus can take you back to Thusis.

Alternatively, you can enjoy a delicious Walser evening meal in Obermutten, spend the night at the Gasthaus Post and continue your hike on the Walserweg via Zillis-Reischen to Andeer the next day.

Winter activities

Even in winter, the Postbus will take you to Obermutten. Winter sports enthusiasts can expect:

  • A ski lift with 3 km of superbly prepared ski slopes
  • A short cross-country skating trail
