Postbus route 751 from Flawil railway station will take you to the starting point of your hike, Magdenau Abbey (stop: Wolfertswil, Magdenau). The hike takes you from Magdenau Abbey over the Wittenberg to restaurant Moosbad. From there, it continues along signposted hiking trails to Degersheim, via Hinterruer and Wolfensberg. It is well worth taking a break en route to enjoy views of the Alpstein massif, the seven peaks of Churfirsten or the rolling hills around the Hörnli. Alternatively, you can choose the route via Baldenwil to Degersheim. Once you get there, take either the Postbus towards Flawil or the train towards Wattwil or Herisau−St. Gallen. The hike is just as charming in the opposite direction.
