Balmberg-Linie

The Balmberg route starts in Solothurn. The unique baroque old town is the perfect place to stroll between the richly decorated fountains, towers and places of worship. From Solothurn, the Balmberg route takes you up the southern slope of the Jura to Balmberg, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Mittelland.

The Balmberg recreation area offers numerous leisure activities and magnificent views of the Aare Valley and the Alps.

  • On this route, you will also enjoy the three-tone horn, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

  • Rope Park Balmberg

Rope Park Balmberg (PostBus stop: Oberbalmberg, Kurhaus) is nestled in the Jura forest. Both young and old can test their courage and their dexterity in the great outdoors. 186 platforms invite you to climb. The vertigo-free and fearless can expect heights of up to 20 metres, while cable car fans can zoom across the up to 174-metre-long zip lines.

No prior experience needed. Safety guaranteed. Upon arrival, you will receive your personal safety equipment and instructions from the staff. Thanks to a special safety system, children as young as 4 years of age can take part.

    Oberbalmberg skiing area

The small ski resort at Oberbalmberg is a great way to enjoy the snow with your whole family (PostBus stop: Oberbalmberg, Kurhaus).

A total of three lifts and five kilometres of pistes await you in winter. There are also two restaurants, a ski rental scheme and a ski school. The downhill runs are for the most part easy or moderately difficult and ideally suited for children and families. Night skiing on the illuminated Kählepiste is a special experience.
