The fun round-trip experience has now been reproduced. The typical Appenzell jokes can now be heard at various audio stations! The nature of the jokes can be selected via a web app at the Heiden, Walzenhausen or Rorschach harbour starting points: for example, jokes for children or adults. The Appenzell boy “Witzli” and the seagull “Barbara” accompany you throughout the round trip. But note that these two figures appear in different forms.

The fun round-trip experience has plenty to offer. In the midst of the stunning Appenzell landscape, you can enjoy a sublime view over Lake Constance, over the southern German region, the Rhine Delta and the Bregenz bay.

The combination of a boat trip through the nature reserve on the old Rhine, journeys with the two cogwheel mountain railways on the Walzenhausen–Rheineck and Rorschach–Heiden routes, and a Postbus journey between Heiden and Walzenhausen offers an unforgettable day experience for young and old.

The joke box at Heiden station tells you how the Appenzell joke became an intangible cultural heritage. From there, you can choose between a PostBus journey or the joke trail, which is an easy hike to Walzenhausen. The wooden audio stations serve as an amplifier for your smartphone. On a varied tour, you can take in the magnificent views in the Vorderland district of Appenzell – an unforgettable experience.

There are now two ticket options for the Appenzell fun round-trip experience, as the boats do not operate between Rheineck and Rorschach port in the early spring or late autumn. In this case, the train or Postbus (route 242) on the Rheineck–Rorschach route are available.
