Tufertschwil model windmill and comic trail in Untertoggenburg

More than 30 model windmills line the way between the Winzenberg and Tufertschwil. Each of these handmade windmills represent a local profession. When the breeze starts up, the handmade windmills start to turn. The carpenter works his plane, the cook stirs the pan, the farmer tends his cow or a beer is served. Each profession is described briefly. This provides for variety and information. There are also excellent views of Untertoggenburg and the Churfirsten mountains.

Comic trail

Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Asterix and Obelix and other comic figures are waiting to be discovered. The carved figures each show the start of the next stage on the comic trail. This is a circular trail from Tufertschwil and is also suitable for prams. There are several barbecue areas along the way.

The model windmills and comic book characters are set up from mid-March to mid-November.

Views in Untertoggenburg

The best way to combine a visit to the various model windmills is with an easy hike. From the Magdenau Abbey, the path to Spilberg initially goes slightly uphill, through the forest and over meadows. The next stop is Winzenberg, where the lovely views invite you to take a break. This is where the model windmill trail to Tufertschwil starts. The hamlet of Tufertschwil soon appears in sight. Refreshed and strengthened, continue the hike to Lütisburg Dorf, the destination of this excursion.
