In the canton of Obwalden, there are numerous improvements on six PostBus routes that run from Sarnen. This is how the expansion on PostBus routes 341, 342, 343, 344, 345 and 351 will look from 10 December 2023:
The Postbuses from/to Sarnen railway station operate on a standardized timetable with at least hourly travel options in all directions. During peak times, there are additional connections every half an hour.
Route 342 to Alpnach Dorf now runs through the industrial area of Sarnen, providing access to an important employment and growth district in Obwalden.
The evening timetable has also been significantly extended: Postbuses will now run towards Sarnen after 7.30 p.m. This means that passengers travelling from Stalden, Wilen, Melchtal, Flüeli-Ranft and Sachseln can now also reach Sarnen by Postbus later in the evening. Kägiswil and Alpnach Dorf will also be served from Sarnen in the evening.
Leisure travellers will also enjoy an improved service: during the winter season, an additional journey to Kerns/Sarnen will be provided from Stöckalp on Friday and Saturday evenings. And the summer season in Langis (route 344) and Glaubenbielen (route 363) now starts at the beginning of May instead of mid-June as before. In addition, the Mörlialp ski bus route 362 offers one additional journey in the morning and one in the afternoon during the winter season.
Finally, residents of Lungern now have the opportunity to travel back to Giswil–(Sarnen) twice in the late evening on route 361.
